By subscription only, this monthly e-newsletter is loaded with short, "down and dirty" tips to help you with solving the everchanging and growing puzzle of the Internet. This e-zine serves as a place to ask your questions and find the answers. So, send me your burning questions.

In last month's e-zine, I covered the categories of and tips about creating and using free products to market your business and grow your list. In this and upcoming issues I will focus on specific products.

Products priced in the $7.00 to $15.00 range. Most visitors are willing to try you out for a product this reasonably priced (I even guarantee these products) and it gives you a chance to share your knowledge and show them that you offer more than fluff and filler.

Category #1. Special Reports and/or White Papers

  • If you write many articles, creating these is the perfect way to combine thoughts. They don’t have to be mammoth, but they should offer more information than expected by the buyer.
  • Size and presentation can vary. I created a report type template for my 5500 to 6500 word Special Reports (straight forward and clean with lots of white space). This also works well for White Papers (the name usually attached to the more technical reports). I convert the report to PDF, using Adobe Acrobat 6.0 (7.0 is now available), saving the original in Word, in case the purchaser has any challenges downloading the PDF.
  • An alternative presentation is to create an HTML version. My first Special Report (originally created as a Booklet - see below), “125 Ways to Develop Your Personal and Professional STYLE” can be ordered as a PDF or as a web page for those who prefer having the graphics and a site they can visit for the information.
  • Pricing and Guarantees:

I price the 5500-6500 word Special Reports at $7.77 (“7” is supposed to be the magic number on the Internet) and the STYLE Report (twice the length of the others) at $9.95 for the PDF and $11.95 for the HTML. I suggest testing your prices to see what works for most buyers.

All my products are guaranteed, so purchasing them is no risk to the buyer.

Category #2. Booklets

  • These are also filled with information, but are a published hard copy booklet.
  • My first booklet was my “125 Ways to Develop Your Personal and Professional STYLE.” The interior pages are 3 1/2 inches (7 inches folded) by 8 1/2 inches. The cover is 3 5/8 inches by 9 inches. I mention this because the size fits easily in a business envelope and is a handy size for use.
  • I sent copies to a variety of publications, and was written up in Bottom Line with my address, the price of the booklet and directions for ordering it. Orders came in on a regular basis for several months, and I then received bulk orders from trainers who used it in workshops.
  • I have updated it (original publication was in 1993) and am now using it for a digital Special Report (see above).

Category #3. Audio cassettes

  • If you lead teleseminars or give live presentations that are worthwhile and content heavy, have someone with excellent equipment tape you. These are always popular with auditory learners.
  • I still enjoy audio cassettes, but they are on the way out, so I would suggest recording or burning your recordings on CDs, if at all possible (and they are selling in the next price range).

In the May issue of this e-zine, I will be discussing the next price range of products - $25 to $50 - which will include e-books. I mention this, because by then I will have my new e-book completed and up on the Internet.

**Note: by the way, I am using an excellent e-book by Jim Edwards and Joe Vitale called “How to Write and Publish Your Own eBook … in as little as 7 Days!” I admit that it is taking me longer than 7 days, so to get started on yours, click HERE.

Have a terrific and productive month!
