By subscription only, this monthly e-newsletter is loaded with short, "down and dirty" tips to help you with solving the everchanging and growing puzzle of the Internet. This e-zine serves as a place to ask your questions and find the answers. So, send me your burning questions.

In this issue of the Internet Tips E-zine, I am going to discuss one of the most effective ways to increase traffic to your website, get opt-ins to your e-zine and basically let the Internet world know you as an expert in your field of interest and/or knowledge.

First and Foremost – Content is king! I know that we have said and heard that many, many times, and some may be doubting the veracity of that statement. But, after being an active member of the Information Highway for more than a decade, I know it is true. Everyone is thirsty for articles and information, so give them what they want.

What are the benefits of article writing and posting?

  • No matter what business you are in or what product you handle, you know information that others would be interested in. Write it up in article form.
  • Including articles and useful content on your website will help with search engine listing and, therefore, generate more traffic to your site.
  • Once you have written several articles you will become known as an expert in your field. The written and published word has always had this power.
  • By writing articles, you will gain more clarity about your business and what you offer - which will help with all your marketing and PR endeavors.
  • Plus, there are many ways you can make use of the articles you write (see next question).

How can I use the articles, besides just posting them on my website(s)?

  • Well written articles can serve as a great follow-up to a networking event. When you meet someone who is interested in what you do, get their card and send them a copy of an article that will be of interest to them.
  • If you have given a presentation to a group, you can tell them that you have an article or short report that you will send them (either by snail mail or e-mail) if they drop their business card in a container that you provide.
  • You can submit your articles to trade publications that your target market reads. An article written by you will bring much more attention than a half page ad that you paid for.
  • I get many requests from others on the Internet to either link to my articles and/or reprint them on their sites or in their newsletters. Of course, I always give permission as long as they will include my contact information.
  • And, then there is article syndication, which I did resist for quite awhile, but am now finding it to be incredibly helpful (see the next question).

What is article syndication and will it help? How do I find out the ins and outs of making it work for me?

  • Article syndication is the posting of articles you have written in article directories for others to use on their websites or in their e-zines.
  • The advantages that accompany this are new and different exposure (including your name, URL and bio) across the Internet, more traffic because of the exposure, plus more listings of article titles in the search engines.
  • I have been submitting articles to www.ezinearticles.com for about two and a half months and have already experienced a large increase in traffic and optins to my distribution lists.
  • These articles are your “agents.” They are out there selling you, your business, your expertise and your website(s).
  • There is a plethora of directories where you can submit articles. There is also software that will do the submitting for you. However, so far I have only submitted to www.ezinearticles.com and to www.ideamarketers.com . I am impressed with the professionalism of both of these sites.
  • And, you are in luck, because Christopher Knight (the owner of www.ezinearticles.com) has just finished creating an excellent package called Article Production Strategies Seminar that I highly recommend. You can discover what it includes by clicking HERE.

So, start writing and/or submitting! You will be glad you did.

Have a terrific and productive month!
