Chris King, Editor
By subscription only, this monthly e-newsletter is loaded with short, "down and dirty" tips to help you with solving the everchanging and growing puzzle of the Internet. This e-zine serves as a place to ask your questions and find the answers. So, send me your burning questions.

In this issue of the Internet Tips E-zine, I decided to share many tips and lessons I have learned over the years of being an active Internet participant. I developed and designed my first website in 1999 and the following year created and contributed websites, articles, e-books and postings to discussions lists and groups.

What I have learned since then is invaluable. So, in this issue I am going to highlight the "Wisdom Tips" I feel will help, warn and spur you on to Internet, business and personal success.

Wisdom TIP #1 - Content Is Still King
The majority of people who visit websites
are seeking information, information and information. If we keep our websites updated with excellent content, our visitors will keep on coming back and will also be more apt to purchase info-products from us. This is because they value the level of content we provide. In addition, every program, teleseminar and/or product I have learned from stresses that the search engines - Google, in particular - place the links to excellent content first and punish those who are not providing excellent, updated content with poor placement or no placement.

Wisdom TIP #2 - Beware the Hype and Get Rich Quick Schemes
It seems that practically every day
there are new programs being offered. These programs sound like the answer to your dreams. You will be shown the way to accomplish the latest and greatest opportunity (see the next TIP) to make more money than you could ever imagine and quickly too. I know that many of these programs are well written and contain valuable advice, BUT just because they worked for their author does not mean they will work for you.

Watch out for the following:

  • Promise of results that sound “too good to be true.”
  • Outlandish prices (maybe it’s just my opinion, but if you purchase every great product that comes along, you could easily be bankrupt before long. That is unless you are rolling in money. It is so easy to plan on the getting rich quick, so, of course, you will have plenty to cover the cost).
  • A large number of Internet marketers/gurus pushing the product - pre-launch, launch and post-launch. I have become rather cynical about products that are pushed and pushed some more (and often using the exact same sales copy) especially if it is a product that is guaranteed to make the purchaser incredibly rich.

Wisdom TIP #3 - Download, Print and Read Rich Schefren’s Manifesto
This past week those gurus I have come to trust were all talking about the Manifesto (a free report that in the words of Schefren is “Putting the Internet into Perspective.” The insights he shares on all 30 pages are thought provoking and filled with common sense - whether or not you want to listen to and/or embrace his advice.

The two topics that I found to be the most enlightening are the differences between the Opportunistic and Strategic approaches to business; and how to create a Process Map. I will be re-reading the report this week and would be interested to hear your feedback. You can find the download HERE.

Wisdom TIP #4 - Pick Seminars and Teleseminars with Care
I have always loved attending
workshops, conferences and seminars. And, if we add teleseminars, there is a plethora of Internet learning opportunities available. As a matter of fact, there are so many, one could spend Monday through Friday constantly on a phone bridge line and then Friday through Sunday at a live, in-person seminar.

The unfortunate truth, however, is that they are not all created equal, and, if you are a learning junkie, you can waste a great deal of time and money being bombarded by pitch fests or the repetition of the same old information over and over again.

I like to download the audio, MP3 files and listen to them while doing other chores. This way, I have discovered those who conduct great learning experiences and those who don’t. I then know whose to sign up for and whose to avoid.

Wisdom TIP #5 - Take Your Time and Be Patient
Everything on the Internet is progressing
at an incredible speed. There are new technologies presented daily, and it is so easy to be caught up in the feeling that we must speed ahead. Very few - if anyone - has become rich overnight. I have great faith in the fact that if we just keep plugging away, giving, sharing and working with integrity, we can produce great results and businesses that we can be proud of
.

Have a terrific and productive month!
