By
subscription only, this monthly e-newsletter is loaded with short, "down
and dirty" tips to help you with solving the everchanging and growing
puzzle of the Internet. This e-zine serves as a place
to ask your questions and find the answers. So, send
me your burning questions.
In
this issue of the Internet Tips E-zine, I
am giving you two gifts of great ways to save time on the Internet.
They both help with cutting down on the time I spend in the important
area of e-mail - opening, reading and digesting - and both are free.
TIMESAVER #1. Getting rid of unwanted e-mail before it
ever reaches your e-mail mailbox.
Reasoning
behind using www.mail2web.com:
I
do not use any kind of spam filters, because I found that many
of the e-mails I wanted to receive - for example, subscribers to
my e-newsletters - were being sent to junk mail or filtered out
completely. I also wanted to use my e-mail addresses using my domain
names for the sake new traffic and also credibility. Because I
receive close to 500 e-mails a day, I need a quick way to check
them without bringing them into Outlook and having to preview them.
Steps
I follow:
-
-
Enter
the e-mail address you want to check and your password
-
Click “Check
Mail” and
wait while the program accesses your list of received mail
-
It
will only show 20, but if you scroll down to under the 20, you
can specify the number you want to see - I always choose “All”
-
At
the top of the listing, you will see Sender, Subject, Date,
and Size
-
I
click the Sender box and it will put a checkmark next to
all e-mails (more of these than those you will want to keep)
-
Then
I go down the list and uncheck those that I obviously want
to read. (If you have any doubts about this, you can always open
a message)
-
Once
I have made my choices, I click on “Delete Selected Emails”
-
The
list will come up with the number you have chosen to delete,
show the subjects and ask if you want to delete them. (If you
notice that by accident you have left an email you want as a
delete, you can go back and redo the list.)
-
Once
they are deleted - a message lets you know - you go to your
e-mail program and bring in the chosen few.
I
know that this sounds like a lot of work, but once you have done
it a few times, you will be amazed by how quick and easy it is.
