Important Note! To access the books in the Right Hand margin along with the featured links, click on the printable version and they will all become live links.

With this issue of the Internet Tips E-zine, I am going to share some of the TIPS from past issues as a reminder. We have already created 66 issues, so I thought it would be a good idea to share some of the top TIPS from previous issues. So here goes.

TIP #1. Be sure to create and add signatures to your e-mails.

Practically every e-mail program offers this feature. The great news is that you can set up more than one, be able to add the signature of your choice to new messages and another signature to replies, or pick a different one depending upon the recipient (s) of your e-mail.

TIP #2. Include the features and factors that help a site gain higher listings in the search engines.

Include a descriptive title in the title bar of every page of your site. When you visit a website, look at the top blue bar, and you should see a title for the page. It is amazing to me how many websites have no title, or possibly just a company name. Besides letting visitors know where they are, this helps with search engines.

TIP #3. Avoid an incredibly long download time.
We have all become impatient when it involves surfing the Internet. Remember, there are still many computer users without high speed connections, so avoid the following factor that contributes to slowness:

Graphics that are large and/or not optimized - I love graphics (even fun clipart). The problem is that designers resize the graphic after it is already placed on a webpage. This means that the visitor has to wait for the large graphic to load and then be resized. They should be resized before being added to the page. Graphics should also be optimized for quick loading by lowering the resolution (quality) - good graphic software programs will perform this task easily.

TIP #4. There are many pros to using a template for your website design:

  • Templates save time and energy. Many suggest what content to add and where.
  • You have the basic design for each page of your website.
  • Because the design is the same throughout, you have the consistency that will hold your site together.
  • Updating your website is straightforward.
  • Templates cut out the chance of destroying layout, because they usually have un-editable and editable regions.

TIP #5. Increase your "personality bond" with your
E-zine readership:

Designate a voice that will come from your organization. This should typically be you, your top executive or someone designated to be your companies "voice" with the public. Your ezine will reflect the unique voice that this person has. This person has a name, so be sure to include it in each ezine post.

TIP #6. Learn how to create effective sales copy for your product(s).

Create a compelling headline.
To catch a reader’s attention, I have been told to either state their problem, challenge or pain, or to give hope - state a dream. Because one of my e-books is written to cover everything the reader needs to know and do to become “An Outrageously Powerful Presenter” I chose a hopeful headline.

TIP #7. Information that appears on the Internet is not free for the taking. There is so much “free” information available today, surfers have taken it for granted that they can use anything they find on the web.

Once an article, a graphic, and/or a photo appears in print, audio or a website, it is automatically copyrighted and the author owns it unless he or she has given permission or has signed the rights over to someone else.
